I've been reading up on chicken temperament in books but was thinking it might be helpful for the uninitiated (like me) to hear from the owners how they would describe their chickens' personalities. If you could offer three or more adjectives about your breeds it would be great to see which traits seem to be common.

For instance, I've read that Polish chickens can be "wacky". It would be nice to hear more...

And since I know nothing about ducks, quail, etc., it would be interesting to learn about them, as well.

Thanks!

Delawares- personable, reliable, and (always) hungry! Dellies are my favorite breed.

Silver Laced Wyandottes- shy, (somewhat) talkative, and affectionate

Australorps- curious, egg-laying machines, and sweet

Buff Orpington- big!, gentle, broody

Marans- moody, (somewhat) flighty, but you get chocolate eggs!

Hope this helps some.

"Girl, What is wrong with those three?"
"I just can't be bothered"
"Fine. I'd rather be last then"
