I need to treat 2 young showgirls, 1 marans Pullet and 1 buff orpington pullet with antibiotic. They have CRD. Am always out of luck getting some Tylan. A good friend from Mexico send me this antibiotic. It contains tilosin 200mg/1ml. I need the conversion as to how much to dose each chicken. I will inject them rather than doing orally. Instruction says 1ML per 20kg of poultry weight. I would say my bigger pullets weight around 5-7lbs each and my showgirls I would say around 1-3lbs each. That's the trickiest part my math is not good. I would say .10 cc?? For 3 days. Please Help

1 kg = 2.2 pounds. 6 pounds = ~2.7 kg. 2 pounds =~1kg.

So your big girls are about 2.5 kg, and your little girls are about 1 kg.

So (2.5kg)/(20kg/mL) = 1/8 mL or 0.125 mL
And (1kg)/(20kg/ml) = 0.05 mL.

I know it can be a pain but you should weigh each chicken to get the right amount of medicine in them. If you have show chickens I would assume you want to take good care of them.

The oral Tylosin 200 dose is:
0.25 ml per lb per bird per day, divided up into several doses per day. So......

If you gave 2 doses per day:
0.125 ml per lb each dose.

If you gave 3 doses per day:
0.085 ml per lb each dose.

If you gave 4 doses per day:
0.065 ml per lb each dose.

I hope @casportpony @Kiki @Eggcessive @dawg53 checks to make sure my math is right.

@kevm2017 Re-read those instructions.
I do not speak spanish fluently, so....Google LOL
Looks like ORALLY is 1mL/20kg and if by injection it's 1mL/10Kg (2.5mL/liter of water). Unless I'm totally reading that wrong - if you are going to inject it, it needs to be diluted per instructions.
This product is just not Tylosin, it also has Gentamycin.
It would be better to dose only birds that are symptomatic. I would also weigh each one to get the proper weight and dose them orally.

Just my 2¢

Tylosin 200 is 200 mg per ml. Dosage is very small, so you need a 1 ml syringe, which you may get from a pharmacy. The dosage is no less than 0.05 ml per pound given 3 times daily. That would be 0.25 ml for a 5 pound chicken or 1/4 ml given 3 times daily for 5 days. It can be given orally, since injectable may cause muscle damage.

Just noticed that this product also has gentamycin as well as tylosin. That can treat gram negative bacteria, such as e.coli. I do not know the dosage of gentamycin right off, but the tylosisn dosage is in my last post. Gentamycin is not usually given orally. @casportpony donyou have any suggestions?

Iol yes Google deffinately does help. The comma does seperates the instructions. It says if injected is 1ml/20kg and orally is 1ml/10kg I think it reduces the amount to prevent kidney damage. I'll probably do it orally in a piece of bread to prevent tissue damage. Am all confused know but I really need to treat them they been suffering for a while now the showgirls are better now something mild left on them.
