hey everyone. We have 8 chickens, and they are laying TINY eggs! They just started laying, but when I researched tiny egg laying everything said they would very little yolk if any, and called them “fart eggs” or “fairy eggs”. But these tiny eggs are mostly yolks, with very little white. Anything I can do to help the chickens lay bigger eggs? The white egg in the picture is only for size difference.

How old are they? What breed are they?

Eggs are mostly protein and water, a good quality feed and access to plenty of drinking water is a step in the right direction.

New layers may lay smaller eggs than older layers and they may increase in size with age.

Some breeds lay smaller eggs than others. Generally speaking, the smaller the chicken, the smaller the eggs, though there are exceptions.

When mine started to lay most of them started to lay pullet eggs, looked like banty eggs. The size increased as they got older and got more normal the second season.

I agree. A fart egg is a very small egg and it is mostly white but can have a small yolk. Your eggs appear to be pullet eggs. Some may have more yolk but usually when the eggs get larger the whites do too. A fart egg.

Those aren't fart eggs, they're pullet eggs. New layers start small and the size will gradually increase over time. I've noticed pullet eggs have close to full sized yolks so that's why you're seeing more yolk to white ratio.

Mine just started and are laying nice pullet eggs. I do also have 2 bantams and would like to know what to expect for their first eggs in a month or so. Does someone have a pic of banty pullet eggs in relation to regular pullet eggs like the OP posted with the larger egg?
