Hi! This little lady is supposed to be the sister of the Blue Jersey Giant pullet you see in the photos. While she looks like a BJG she is so tiny! They are about 9 to 10 weeks old and I've had them for 5 weeks. They came together and were both fully feathered so they should be the same age. Is it really possible for a JG to be this stunted or does anyone think she could be another breed? When her tail feathers are pointed up she looks a bit like a rosecomb bantam. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

From a local lady who I believe buys hatching eggs and incubates them. I didn't pick them out since she was kind enough to deliver to me 45 min away so I went ahead and accepted the small chick. She had an ear infection earlier this week but it healed quickly after treatment. I have been watching her, expecting her to possibly not make it due to her small size, but she's still hanging in there and isn't showing any outward signs of being unhealthy (other than the ear infection) so I'm wondering if there's any chance of a breed mixup or if such a tiny JG can really survive for so long? I haven't had a failure to thrive chick before so not sure exactly what to expect. I still adore her no matter what ends up happening :)

Could be a failure to thrive chick.
She doesn't have a rosecomb, where did you get her?
Hi, sorry, I replied to you but not directly to you so just letting you know it's on the thread :) I would also add that the only other breed she was offering at the time that are similar are Sapphire Gems. Thank you :)

No worries. There's no telling, a jg, should not be much bigger than a gem unless they're wildly different ages.
