This winter has been unusually snowy for us. Our flock has a large covered run protected by hardware cloth. In previous years, there was usually a break between snowstorms where the snow would melt, so we could open the run into the larger fenced yard, but this year we went through about 6 weeks straight of mountains of snow which created a snow “wall” around the run. I keep tarps around the bottom of each side, so the inside stayed dry and snow-free. However as the snow melted, there is a TON of dust and cobwebs on the top portion of the hardware cloth. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to clean this off? I feel like wiping it was just making it dustier. Thank you!

Uh, hose it down? Wet cleanup keeps all the dust down. I do deep dry bedding in our coop structure, dust gets on everything, so a few times per year I will wet it down with a jet spray and broom to clean it off.
Yeah, i figured that might be the best idea! With all the snow melting and flood warnings, I’ll wait to take out the hose. Give the ground a bit of time to recover from the 6 feet we got! It’s been 50 for a week and some of the snow still hasn’t melted!

On the walls?
Is it really a problem?

If it really bothers you you could use a leaf blower to take most of it down....and maybe toss a few shovel fulls of snow over the bedding in the run to dampen thing a bit.
