I'm a novice. I started these cucumbers less than 2 weeks ago, I was late. Everything I read says to plant in the garden once true leaves develop. My question is: if it's okay to plant seeds directly in the garden right now, will it be okay to plant (transplant?) these?

I also have basil and mixed herbs which have barely sprouted but I'm anxious to get them into the garden as well.

And if it's not a good idea, why?

If you are past any chances of frost, they can be planted in the garden.

The main reason to wait for true leaves is root development. There will be more roots as the seedlings grow which makes them stronger.

I agree thar if you are past frost dates the garden can be planted.
