Tractor Supply Brooders

I'm very thankful to have both multiple Wilcos and a local smaller business feedstore REALLY close by! Knowing what kind of brooders these are now though I will make a comment-

I volunteered for multiple springs at said small local feed store. They had one of these 'Tower Brooders' that stored *all* of their chicks until they out grew them (3 weeks or so) then they went into tubs and on sale.

I was only a volunteer, I did cleaning/refilling of the waterers and feeders but mostly just helped out with people picking breeds and information (Thanks 4H ;D) but the tower brooders do have issues.

They don't seem to heat very well, or very evenly. The 3rd level down was always very hot while the top one, very cold. The still made a stinky mess and sometimes got injured legs, broken toes, or STUCK in the wire (both new arrivals and older babies) I always rescued them but I was only there for a few hours on the weekends, I don't know how many babies got hurt while I wasn't there.

Cleaning them was a little difficult, but not the worst. The tower brooders are efficient for usage of space and thats kind of it. The feeders on the side are handy but not at the cost of everything else (in my opinion) The big tub brooders, sure they're kind of a handful and take up quite a bit of space. But thats what's going to be better in the long run (once again, in my opinion)

My local feedstore (and my Wilcos nearby) all use the tub brooders and hopefully TSC will change their mind and go back to it

I wish we had a rural king in my area!!!:(
Those brooders look neat but the first time i saw them I wondered about heat. Our tsc has them but there's never anything in them. No chicks on chick days.

I have to be honest when I was scrolling the recent list and saw your name I thought it was bacon91219. Lol. In my defense I'm hungry and also looking on my phone.

Bacon! Haha thats so funny. Now I'm hungry too.

I just watched a video yesterday on YouTube where they were addressing it with gold Shaw farms, and said all the complaints were from backyard breeders/flock?!?!? That everyone else loves it pretty much. UM, who do they think buys their chicks? Lol
