My girls have just finished up a round of antibotics for ten days and I was thinking about giving them a treat next week. Would crickets be okay from the pet food stores?

yes they are but be aware that crickets are "empty" meaning that they have been fed nothing but cardboard and maybe a potato or carrot for the last week so they are not going to me much nutrition for your chickens.

when I buy crickets for my chickens or reptiles i will buy them about 3 - 4 days before i want to feed them to my animals and fatten them up with good stuff do that they are a healthy snack for my animals

I have a cricket food that i use but you can just put them in a rubbermaid tote and have fresh fruit and veggies available for a few days

make sure you have hiding places for them like old egg acrtons

you can also give them a handful of cat or dog food too they will eat that

how many are we talking?

I buy mine in lots of 500 and a handful of cat food and an apple will feed them for a week at least

Well, I have 24 pullets and a roo, so I was thinking maybe 50 to 75, but I am not sure. I do have cardborad egg carton and a cat so I think I will try this!!! Thanks alot!!

IF you are going to purchase them at a pet store (Like Pet Smart) you are going to pay 'an arm and leg for them"....Ours wants .11(eleven cent) per cricket!!! I purchase mine @ a bait shop...for about 1/2 that... My chickens LOVE crickets..

I say take them all outside along your foundation, turn up the rocks twigs and grass and let them feast on their own bugs. Doesnt cost anything, theres more nurtients, and more fun for chickies.

Of course if you spray your yard or foundation that wouldnt work... lol.
