Hi everyone, thank you for looking at my post and potentially trying to help me find an answer to my dilemma.
I live in the Bay Area and in the past few years there have been an upsurge in Tropical Rat Mites (Ornithonyssus bacoti). In the past hour or so I stumbled upon Elector PSP and have not found any thread online telling me whether or not it works on Tropical Rat Mites (Ornithonyssus bacoti). Old forums I have found talked about Tropical Fowl Mites but they are not the same type.
We used to have chickens but mite related problems led us to get rid of them. I would happily bring chickens and other outdoor animals back into my family's property as long as we had an assurance that there was a solution to the mite problem. I know Diatomaceous earth works on many mites, however, since Tropical Rat Mites are not the most common type in America I have not found much info on that either. Permethrin supposedly works, only problem is that my family has three cats (+1 dog) that love to go outside and hunt. If anyone can give me any advice on this problem I would be very thankful.
PS - Does anyone have any deterrent ideas for these mites?
