TSC Assorted bantam ID

I couldn’t resist grabbing a few chicks today. Most were bought to add to into my sex-linked and colored egg layer projects. I got a CCL, 1 barred rocks, 1 diamond something or other that should lay green but looks like a barred rock, a white leghorn just because, a gold laced Wyandotte, and a sapphire OE. Then I saw their bantams…

All the breeds were labeled and looked like they should but I picked one chick out of the assorted straight run bantam bin at TSC. Fuzzy feet, no muffs from what I can tell. Straight comb. Can I get a guess on breed? Hoping for a Cochin but I know d’Uccle is a high possibility. Of course I can just wait and see how it grows but where’s the fun in that? I’m not concerned about gender right now as I know it is going to have to wait a few weeks.

I think you're right. I wondered if it could be a gold necked duccle because they're on the same spectrum but usually lighter. We got one once from hoovers even though they didn't list them as a variety they carried.

Hoovers acquired them from Privett’s after buying Privett Hatchery.

I wonder how it happens when one hatchery buys another when it is another state or province. I’m guessing they ship boxes of thousands of adult birds or eggs. Probably eggs.

Getting feathers now, I hope to see more white as it grows. In another few weeks we can start guessing gender.

I agree, thanks for the update. I just got 6 chicks and am wondering if the more brightly coloured ones are male. I’ll update if they all get sold.
