i have kind of a dumb question... we have grown turkeys and te pretty skidish. But we bought some day old turkeys with baby chick, one of the chick was missing and eye and blind from the only eye he had. So I had to deal with him a lot and the baby turkeys endend up suuuuper friendly and liking hugs and what not.
They are in a smaller pen in our big pen till they are big enough to be with our grown poultry. But when I put my hand in there to grab their water or give them food they all grab my arm or finger with their beak and nibble back and forth. It doesn’t hurt but it’s just kinda funny. Just barely pinching the skin. Would anybody happen to have went thru that? Is it a funky Turkey way of showing affection? I know mini for example nibble with their teeth because they don’t like like a dog for say. So yeah. I know my turkeys don’t mean to hurt because I’m sure they could bite much harder if it was meant to hurt? Any idea why they do it?
