I have a tom that is the only survivor of 4 birds (two got trampled by dogs and his lady friend died last week from unknown causes but was never healthy looking). He has become very friendly, trying to come in the house, following me, chirping, etc. but I can't do anything around him without his chasing my fingers. I believe he thinks they are worms as he started this when i was planting things in the garden. Is this common and is there anyway to make him STOP!??
Also, if I try to put him out in the pasture, he just paces the fence all day until I go get him. I was hoping he would free range a little but its not happening. He's only about 2 1/2 mo. old and we will be butchering him, likely around August as he is a BBW

I'm having g the same issue my Sweet B started this one morning because he has knocked over his feeder and was hungry and now he won't quit unless he's in my lap but I tap his beak and say no but any other info on stopping this bad behavior would be nice :)

My royal palm does this to shes really friendly but bites sometimes . it dont hurt but still. id suggest getting him a friend ,maybe he wouldn't pace the fence. also does he eat. my turkey dont eat scratch i have to give her laying mash and shes OK as long as she has mash.

I had a few royal palms, a slate, and a narragansett, and none of them ever tried to bite. They did get into the habit of knocking down their waterer at around 2 months old, however.

Never give treats from your hand. Instead, hold the treats until he calms down and then toss them on the ground. He'll stop associating your fingers with food.

Having a friend would be better for him but since he only has a month left... if he seems really unhappy by himself I would consider slaughtering him a little earlier, imo.
