So I work at a local humane society and today animal control brought in a turkey poult. I have backyard chickens but never raised turkeys so I am not sure how old he/she is. And not sure on what is fed to young turkeys. I did have someone bring me some of my all flock feed pellets as I didn't know what else to go for. If someone could give me any info on maybe what age this little one is that would be great. Sorry for the poor quality picture, I was in a hurry so this is all I could get. a co worker did get more pictures so I could ask him to send them if more is needed. They are set up in a bird cage with a heat lamp (and no the dish at the top is just the cages water bowl, I have something set up for food and water at the bottom. Also if someone could let me know what breed of turkey it is as well.

It needs a high protein turkey or game bird starter. Since it appears to be on shavings, it needs access to the appropriate sized grit. It can eat the shavings and become impacted if it does not have grit to enable it to grind them up.

It looks well enough feathered to be down to 75°F to 80°F measured at the bedding level.

The breed is Turkey. It might be the variety Bronze but the photo is not good enough to say for sure.

It will very soon need a much larger area.
