Hi I’m hoping someone can help me, I took our pet 3 year old turkey to the vets earlier today with a very badly swollen eye, her other eye is unaffected. They gave me Loxicom to try and bring the swelling down and Isathal eye drops for the infection. It smells of infection and over 24 hrs is steadily getting worse. My vet didn’t really know how else to treat it, do you have any experience of this please? I’d really appreciate any help at all. She’s also dropping her feathers at a fast rate and although earlier in the vets she didn’t seem to have any respiratory problems she is now sounding snotty with her breathing

Hi! The eye membrane is all still swollen but not as painful, she’s getting around like normal, eating drinking etc so not sure what to do, I’m still giving antibiotics and eye drops to see if it goes down more.

Hi @Jennypebs :frow Welcome To BYC!

I'm sorry your Turkey is not well. I don't know much about Turkeys so I'll tag in @casportpony and @R2elk

I'm glad you were able to see the vet.

The additional respiratory problems since the vet visit - you may want to contact your vet for an oral antibiotic as well - it would likely be quicker and easier to do that since I'm assuming you may be in Canada? Adding your location to your profile can be helpful.

For the eye, I would flush it 2-3 times a day with saline and use the eye drops as prescribed by the vet. The swelling looks like pus to me and that will need to be pushed out/removed for it to heal.

Hopefully the others will be on shortly and be able to give you more suggestions.
Keep us posted on how she's doing.
