Two eggs zipped but no progress

Here I go again, lol. I think I know the answer is to wait but this time is different than my first hatch.

We started with 12 eggs. 3 quit around day 7 and were removed. Out of the remaining 9, 2 have hatched, 2 are fully zipped but making little progress, 1 zipped just today while I was at work and the rest have external pips of some level. Should I assist the two that have been zipped for 18 hours but have made little progress or try and wait it out?

Once they zip they should be out within an hour or two, or so has been my experience. If they have zipped and are having trouble completing the process then I would think their fluff has gotten dried to the egg goo/membrane and they are stuck. I would help them if it’s already been so long with them being zipped.

IME if they have started zipping then all their yolk and blood vessels have been absorbed and there is no real danger of hurting them.

They were gone. Something went wrong when they zipped I think. We still have two that haven't popped or zipped at all yet but I don't think we have much hope. Out of twelve we got two.

As a side note when I opened the incubator it smelled really foul. I wonder if whatever happened to the first one spread something to the rest of them.

Do you have a calibrated humidity gauge and thermometer in your bator?

It's been fairly consistent. I think the issue was I set a cycle for 21 days and I probably should have set it for 25 days for safety because I think when the cycle ended the humidity and temp dropped to maintenance mode. I think that's why we lost the five. I did one more assisted hatch on one that had broken through but made no progress because we could hear her chirping. She seems like she's going to make it but she's struggling. I think we may have made it right in time. One bright star at least in the darkness.
