Can the Tylan that is supposed to be put in water be mixed into some food instead? Is the injectable Tylan the same formula as the one to be put in the water?
Thank you,
Deirdre
First, can you tell us which type you are going to use? The tylan or tylosin soluble powder is given in the water 1 tsp per gallon of water for 3-5 days. There are 2 strengths of Tylan injectable, 50 mg per ml and 200 mg per ml. The injectable has not been available for some time, but some have some leftover, and a couple of people have reported that they found some.
Tylan 50 injectable dosage is 0.25 ml per pound given 3-4 times a day. It would take a lot of it to put in the water, but you could give each dose in a little food or treat.
Well, I would give it orally at 0.25 or 1/4 ml per pound 3 times a day, for 3-5 days. You can also give it in an injection into the breast muscle, but I prefer giving it orally since there is a chance of muscle damage at the inejction site.
Hi, just seeing these messages. Rosie has a respiratory infection. She's had it for many months now. We have tried a couple antidotes so far. It is bacterial.
I am going to pick up the Tylosin tomorrow. I don't know the strength yet. I was told to put 1/4 tsp in a liter of water and change it every day. I have been instructed to isolate the chicken for 30 days so I can make sure she alone gets the medication from the water. I really don't want to isolate her for that long. The doctor said to put the powder in food could potentially overmedicate her. So, it sounds like by splitting the medication up over the course of the day, I can avoid overmedicating?
