Hello all,

really struggling to find a quick, efficient wormer for my hen and ducks here in the UK.

I have bought Flubenvet to mix with their feed, my only problem is I have a sickly hen who is off her food at the moment. I have no evidence they have worms but I rescued these girls and I’ve not wormed them yet.

Would love to know if there’s an oral/paste wormer that can treat them and is easy to get/have delivered due to lockdown. Also, what dosage! A total novice here and worried that’s why my hen is ill.

thanks in advance!

Can you get Panacur horse paste at a feed store? If you can, and can post the label or strength, we can give you dosage. Fenbendazole is the avtive ingredient, and it works very well when given orally. The 10% horse paste dosage is 0.25 ml per pound of weight, given orally once and in 10 days to treat round and cecal worms. When given for 5 consecutive days, it treats all chicken worms except tapes.

Thank you, that is really useful and straightforward info. I can get the 10% horse liquid or the paste from the post you’ve attached below, or this rabbit one at 18.5%.

PLEASE LOOK UP PAPAYA OR GROUND UP PAPAYA SEEDS FOR DEWORMING POULTRY

Hi again,

I’ve received the wormer and am about to start treatment. I just wondered if you have any thoughts on this:

My hen was suffering from sour crop which I’ve been treating and she seemed to show an initial improvement. However, I’ve noticed she is rubbing her eyes loads and her nictitating membrane is visible- almost like it’s getting stuck over her eye.

Could this all be down to some kind of worm? And will my treatment clear her of every worm she might have?

The ducks she lives with are fine so far, although I’ll be worming them too. Thanks in advance!
