Okay, so this is going to sound weird. A couple days ago I found a chicken head in our dog room (the sun room really, but our dogs spend time out there when we aren't home). Assuming the dogs had decided to go after the chickens, I went out, knowing I would find a dead chicken. Nope. All my chickens seem accounted for (I have a lot of them, so its hard to count). None of my neighbors have chickens to my knowledge. How on earth could I found a fresh chicken head without any chickens? I mean, I don't think it was a black-bird, it was big and my Mom (who cleaned it up) said it was a chicken for sure.

Its not too important except for the fact that I don't understand how all of my chickens can be okay! I guess a hawk could have dropped it in the yard or something, but that is a major coincidence.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, that is weird. I have no idea how that could have happened, but I'm interested to find out! What breed of dogs do you have?

6 Poodle mixes. The two that would have done it are a Lab x Poodle and an Aussie x Poodle. They have never done it before, though Coral (the lab mix) does chase chickens when excited. However, they would have to fly into the dog fence for that to happen. And even then, I wold have thought I would have found the body.

I thought it could have been the chick the opossum had gotten the day before. I had thrown it away, but if something had dug it out the trash bags would have been ripped.

I found a dead rooster near my barn once. No one within about 1/2 mile of me had any roosters, and it was beyond the area where my dogs can roam. I guessed a fox or coyote may have had it, but it was pretty much whole.

Recently, I found a tiny baby snapping turtle inside my garage. I'm not near any water, and there is a ledge to go up to get in the garage, that I don't think this tiny turtle could go up on his own. Some things are just mysteries...

Turtle fairy, perhaps?
