Hello, I picked up some pullets Sunday afternoon. We had a 2.5 hrs drive home.
1- Hampshire 11 weeks old
1- EE 10 weeks old
1- Maran 6 weeks old
1- Amberlink 5 weeks old

The place seemed clean and chicks active and healthy though I only saw from a distance to be safe with bio security (my flock has MD). These pullets have been MD vaccinated.

The EE was definitely stressed by the move. She lays down more, wings slightly spread and had open mouth breathing. I also saw some concerning poops and treated water with Corid.

After 24 hrs the EE had only perked up slightly even though the other 3 are active and settled. The EE eats, drinks, preens and is chatty but still laying down more and open mouth breathing (though less severe).

I made mash with Tylosin water last night and 12 hrs later she is eating more but still laying down and open mouth breathing (though even less). The person I bought from said shipping fever. I’ve researched and see it for live stock but not chickens. Can this be true? Should I be doing something else for her? I am starting to hear a random beginning sneeze (not high pitched yet) every now and then.

Thoughts? My son is FINALLY excited to add a few chicks after the trauma of losing so many girls after the initial MD infection and of course this EE is his favorite of the group. I cannot lose her!!!

Thank you!

Try giving her sugar water. 1 tsp sugar, a pinch of salt and pinch of baking soda to 1 c warm water. Stir to dissolve. Put some in a small cup and hold up to her beak. Repeat until she refuses. This is treatment for shock. I do not know if she is in shock but it should help revive her if she is stressed.

This is the EE breathing with her beak open some. She does not seem in distress, I do see her eat and drink, she preens and roosts. But something is definitely off.

Here is her weird wing droop. She was vaccinated for Mareks and raised away from my flock for 10 weeks. She’s been in my house for 3.5 days but came with this weird droop. She is moving around more the last 24ish hours.

Bumping this up because she has taken a turn for the worse. She’s lethargic and sleepy this morning and has an empty crop.

I have her inside with mash (made with nutridrench water), scrambled egg, plain water and I gave her 1/2 vitamin B complex/200mg vitamin E in coconut oil.

She is not eating nor drinking and no poo yet.

I cannot see any kind of discharge, she has always been light but she is not gaining like the others as they grow. She’s just basically sleeping, head and tail down. She has been outside with the other 3 younglings keeping up and eating for about 10 days. We sit with/check on them multiple times a day to be sure they are not getting bullied and have access to food and water.

I cannot lose this chick, we have been through too much and my son absolutely adores her. He’s named her Junior (Juney) since she is so similar to his favorite we lost last year.
