I have a 15 week old barnyard mix that I hatched myself. She is a hen. She recently (like 3 hours ago, got really lethargic.) We have treated for coccidia about 7ish weeks before. She is so lethargic, she cannot balance, and her poop is literal water. She drinks a ton, which I assume is from diarrhea. No other chicken in her coop has this. She is a Smokey pearl mix. She is inside sleeping in my lap right now. She is in a huge retriever black dog kennel with 8 other chickens. Bedding is hay and pine shavings. They are fed chick starter grower mixed with a few handfuls of adult chicken feed to get them used to it. I have given her corid (coccidia treatment), poultry drench, vitamins and electrolytes. Please help me figure out what is wrong with her. Also I don’t know if this relates, but she got attacked by my male peacock, but she did not get hurt. Just lost a few feathers. I have checked her over and no wounds. No pasty butt. No obvious problems. Please help..

Hi,

You do not need to feed them any layer feed until they start laying eggs, unless you know it's going to be very soon. Otherwise, you're giving them calcium they won't use and their systems have to try to process it. Kidneys can become damaged if too much calcium is fed to them. I'm not saying this is what's wrong with her though, just mentioning it.

You're trying every single thing I would be if I had a chicken like this. Probiotics you could try and see if that would help the diarrhea.

How long ago did the peacock attack her? Perhaps there was an injury to her you can't see. The electrolytes will help her if she is in shock from it, but I'd not give that more than a couple times a week as that could add to the diarrhea issue.

I'm wondering if they aren't overcrowded as I'm guessing I know what dog crate you're referring to and with 9 almost full grown chickens in there, that could be causing issues. Can you get them outside somehow?

It is not a dog crate it is like a huge outdoor dog run that you would house an outdoor dog in too. I will get measurements tmr. And also, they are outside, I just have this one such chicken inside.

8 took this picture when they were younger. They slept in a smaller dog kennel at night, but now I have sticks in there that they roost on.

Can you post photos of your Pullet and her poop?

Could she have been attacked by the Peacock again?

She's drinking a lot, what does her crop feel like?

Let her drink, but offer her some wet feed. If you are giving Corid, then omit any Extra vitamins/electrolytes that have B1(Thiamine).

Her poop is still not normal but looks fine. Here’s a pictureq of her. She’s doing better, she’s drinking a lot and she is eating a little bit. I am putting just poultry drench in her food and water, and corid in her water
