This has happened a few times before...but today, a bit more then in the past. Have an egg with clear sticky liquid around the outside of it, and it looks like the chicken "peed" in the nesting box a bit. Yes, I know they don't actually urinate....but it's the best way to describe it. All chicks seem fine, egg is fine otherwise. I've read about broken eggs, and the egg whites, but this is a solid, healthy looking egg.
I have 9 hens, I haven't been able to single out which lady this is happening with and I am somewhat knew to this, girls are just a year old. Any insight would be appreciated.

My wellsummer does that once in a while. I assumed it was excessive bloom. I am all up in their business all the time, so I have watched her lay eggs. She has more fluid than usual sometimes and it dampens the nesting box. (She also turns around and starts shouting at her egg... like EHHHHHHH! Its hilarious). See if you can watch them lay eggs if you know what time they do it. It's a long shot if you have a full schedule, but it put my mind at ease to do so.

This made me chuckle!

Thanks for asking, OP. I noticed this with one of mine, too. The egg was damp when I took it out of the nest. My girls are all fine otherwise (one just got over laying a shelless egg that made her feel unwell and one has gone crazy grumpy broody). Extra bloom makes sense in my situation.
