I have an elevated chicken coop and I have now removed everything out of my coop so I was wondering if I could use the mole/rat smoke bombs in the rat holes under to coop to kill them. I have move my chickens into another yard during the day and in my house at night until I can stop the rats from my chickens. I have metal all on the bottom. Has anyone used the?

If you want to try the smoke bombs, please do......and report back on how well they worked for you. Most likely......not.......but do give it a try.

After that........you can try what does work. Poison bait blocks served up from secure bait stations. You are mostly ready for this as you have already done the first necessary couple steps.....removal of food and shelter for the rats.

A severe rat infestation is a severe problem.

This thread pretty much outlines the nature of the problem and how to deal with it. Good stuff starts on page 2 of the thread. Do watch the old army/cdc videos. As valid today as when they were made. Rats haven't changed. Only the people and housing they thrive on have. The videos will get you up to speed on what you are up against.
