Hay all. I know that a straight comb is the result 2 recessive genes for both pea and rose comb genes. Pea combs are from one or two copies of pea comb with no rose comb, Rose is from one or two copies of rose comb with no pea, and walnut comb is from at least one copy each of pea and rose. What I would like to know is this....
What about the V-comb??? I have a cockerel that has an amazing V comb with normal full sized wattles, and one that has two stubby red lumps where his comb should be, a beard with muffs and mini wattles. What, genetically, is the difference between their combs?
Anyone have pictures of a chicken with one copy each of:
(1) v and pea
(2) v and straight
(3) nubby v and pea
(4) nubby v and straight
Thank you. I look forward to answers and pictures.
