Just curious what everyones vaccination schedule was? What they vaccinated against? I read online that pmv is a big issue and I saw foys has a vaccine and says use every 4-6 weeks, and then they have a 5 in 1 powder that worked against canker, worms, etc but did not say how often to use, so just curious on everyone’s thoughts. Thanks!

I vaccinate mine annually against PMV. I use Colombovac PMV. It comes with a syringe and several needles as well as the vaccine and certificate. If you race pigeons they must be vaccinated and have a signed and stamped certificate. I don't race mine but I still vaccinate. I had a close call with PMV last year with someone bringing me an infected bird. The vaccine is alot cheaper than having to replace my birds! The five in one isn't a vaccine but does help if your birds were to get any of the ailments it protects against. If you know for sure that your birds have worms or canker or mites you are best getting something specifically for that as the concentrations will be better. The ....in ones are good as an all-round remedy but aren't a vaccine.

Thankyou for the reply! Any chance you know what website you use to purchase it? I’m not 100% sure if I will be racing but I will
most definitely be loft flying and doing tosses so I would like to be up with everything then if I do race I will be all set. I should have specified that i know the 5-1 isn’t a vaccine but thought it might be a good preventative measure. But if it’s not worth the money I’d rather put it into something else the birds need more

I am in uk, this is the site I use. They are currently out of stock. I did mine in February before they start going out more often and I also have half the loft currently sat on eggs(plastic ones)! The vaccine takes 2 weeks to be fully effective after administering. I have harkers 4 in 1. I have used it once before. It is always handy to have a few treatments on hand as you never know when something may happen and you can be guaranteed it will be over a weekend when you cant get anything!

Thanks for the info! Looks like most places can’t carry that any more and have moved to Lasota, so I will have to do a little more research

If you are wanting to vaccinate against PMV, you will want to use the PMV vaccine that was developed by Drs. John Kazmierczak and Paul Miller. I don't think that the Lasota vaccine was ever tested or proven to be effective against PMV in pigeons (it's for the Newcastle disease in chickens). I'm sure that Foys pigeon supply, or Siegals, or Jedds carries it. I haven't looked at the price, but the paratyphoid vaccine used to be around 130 dollars... I'm assuming that the PMV one is roughly the same. If they don't have it in stock, you could always call the West Trenton animal hospital in NJ and ask for Dr. K (it's what most everyone calls him). He's a great guy and would probably be able to get you the vaccine if the supply places are out of it.

Thankyou! Just checked and foys does carry it, so perfect. It’s $139, but treats 100 birds which is much better than the $140 for 20 birds of the Lasota

But what if you have around 20 birds like me, can you use part and store the rest? I did not think you could. I haven't ever vaccinated my birds but I have thought about it?

Wow... didn't realize the Lasota was so expensive
Very expensive if you ask me!

I called foys and they said the shelf life is 6-12 months. Well that’s a pretty big gap if you ask me, because i was planning on around the 20 birds too. All of the local guys say they don’t vaccinate because it’s a pain, but everyone online that i have read says to do it. So I guess it’s personal preference but I’m just not sure
