I actually didn't understand much about production birds at the time I bought the ISA's. I knew not to get the Cornish X for meat and got the BR instead but didn't know the ISA's were the same for eggs. Then I thought the ISA's were my "bad" birds because the others are "fancy," but it turns out that they are by far the friendliest and each of their eggs are darker than my Marans. One of them, Clara is really like a pet. She stays by my side even when I don't have treats. I'm not sure if she's overseeing my work or just keeping me company. They really are sweethearts. She's bred for production so she'll lay a lot of eggs fast and then peter out while still relatively young. I specifically don't buy production birds for that reason.
