Walmart chicken feed????

iv been feeding my lady's layna crumbles from a feed store but i was recently at Walmart and found family farm scratch grains and family farm egg maker. i was wondering if i could switch to the family farm brand but which one? the scratch grains or the egg maker? or should i not switch at all? does anyone know about family farm brand? i don't want to feed them bad quality food but i am in the city so Walmart is way more convenient but if its bad quality i don't mind taking the longer trip.

A quick Google search says it is 40lb instead of 50lb, and is about $12 a bag. Also people say it is 15% protein. The worst thing is that there are multiple reviews on WaL Mart's own site claiming the bags are largely dust. It sounds to me like it isn't the best stuff or the best price, although it should work.

I've only tried three brands, and settled on Purina for now, because it seems superior, or at least more appetizing, to my small flock. Nature's Pride had a waxy coat on the pellets and my chickens didn't seem to eat it much (I can't blame them, I don't like healthy food either heh). Duma stunk, and the crumbles were like 50% dust, plus the chickens just didn't seem to eat it as much either.

My boss has 3-4 hens and he uses the layer one from Walmart, has for years. They seem to do good on it and pretty much all lay every day. Mine aren't that age yet, but I'll probably use it too. The layer feed from the feed store is about the same here so it will come down to convenience.

Scratch grains are a treat, not a complete feed. They're intended to be tossed out and 'scratched' for. A habit chickens love to do.
Scratch should make up about 5-10% of the diet max.
Most feeds contain all the nutrients chickens are known to need at the age the feed is intended for.
Some are better than others but all should be complete nutrition.

Also they often take months to move their feed stock, (not many people use walmart as a feed store) and the bags end being very buggy. You can do much better.
