Walmart feed?

Has anyone tried the Happy Egg Company Egg layer feed? They sell the bags for 10 dollars for 20lbs so the price isnt too bad.
I tried the other Walmart feed called Family Farm & Home. The chickens eat it and seem to like it. It sure is nice to order chicken food online and have it delivered for free.

The price alone would turn me away. You simply cannot get quality feed for that price. I wouldn't buy it.
For commercial mixes, I only feed formulas designed for mixed flocks. The calcium content for a mixed flock feed should be 0.6 - 1.0%. The protein content should be 18-20% and ideally contain some animal protein.
It isn't just the nutrition assay you want to look at but where the ingredients are sourced that is important.

From what I could find, it is scratch with oyster shell, grit, and pellets mixed in. The birds would pick out their preferred bits and leave the rest...leading to a nutritional imbalance. Fermenting may help, but I've never done that so I don't really know.

If you actually price it out to 50lbs it's more expensive than flockraiser. Weird. Not the best quality I do scratch and peck starter mixed with henhouse reserve. I will test it out my post review.

Can you post a picture of the label when you get it? I am sure it is adequate stuff, especially since you can supplement with occasional table scraps, egg shells, free range grass, etc to add missing nutrition or calcium to their diet.

Feed is expensive and as long as the chickens are getting all the required amino acids and nutrients, not everyone can rely on expensive options that can feed a flock perfectly. Poorer feeds rely on soy and corn as the primary source because it is cheaper and what people can afford. Even purina feed isn't perfect and I rely on supplemental nutrition with the formulated feed.

I found this on the Wally-World website.

$25 for 50 lb of feed is expensive for around here, you get 22% mini layer pellets here for $16.. but if the nutrients are there Im sure itll work out for ya

Thanks! I searched but didnt find it.

Corn, soybeans, wheat, sunflower seeds, calcium plua other good stuff. This is way better than what my hens get. It is well rounded and complete nutrition. It relies on corn and soy, which isnt ideal for long term health, but it is a very good feed compared to anything I have seen where I live. I only pay 0.38 per pound of feed, but this feed is much more balanced than what I have.
