Water belly stages?

I learned how to drain our girl and it works for a few times. Now I can't seem to get liquid out - the syrsyringe has a vacuum. Has anyone with a chicken that had water belly and drained it themselves see an end? No one talks about what happens since it's not a cure, it's just to make them comfortable. Well what happens after it doesn't work anymore? What is to be expected? And yes, I know she willl die from it. I would like for someone that has experienced all the stages to explain. Thanks a bunch!
