I have 5 ducks - 1 pekin and 4 buffs. I'm trying to figure out the best way to contain their water mess. (Is that even possible?!

) I use sand as a bedding. This is what I am doing right now:

It's a gallon waterer on a bucket in a bunny poop tray. (Ingenius, right?

) It works ok, the bedding does eventually get wet, and I know it will. Just wondering what you guys do.

My teenage ducks are living in the garage until we finish their outdoor pen.

I use a counter intuitive solution.

I found my girls made more mess when I only had a waterer available to them. They were trying to splash bathe/ groom using the water in the waterer.

I keep a baking dish of greens for dabbling and a 3 gallon hog pan in their with them at all times.

Someone always ends up standing in the dabbling dish and they splash bathe/groom using the hog pan water. I typically only have one day a week where I have to clean up water mess. It's usually when the hog pan water level gets too low.

Prior to implementing this solution I had to deal with water mess 7 days a week.

This indoor water is in addition to their kiddie pool in their enclosed foraging pen. They're indoors when no on is home to watch them.
