I’m trying to figure out if there is some way I can cover and insulate my outdoor water spigot, and leaving a hose attached to it, for daily use during the cold snowy months. I’m in Indianapolis, and it’s gets pretty cold in the winter, i have ducks & it’s sometimes real difficult carting water from inside to the outside to give fresh drinking water daily, and to fill a kiddie pool occasionally for the ducks to swim in on nicer days. It would be much simpler to encase the outdoor spigot w some sort of insulated deck box to prevent spigot from freezing, and to put something like pool noodles around the hose to prevent it from ftreezing and busting the spigot and/or water pipe. I only need about 15-20 foot of hose to reach where my duck run and coop is. Has anyone had luck w anything like this, and how did you set it up to prevent pipe/hose/spigot from freezing? Any ideas are welcome. Would just be a lot simpler to be able to use the hose all winter w out continuous connecting disconnecting hose or carting water from the house daily. Work smarter not harder is what I’m trying to accomplish.
