I am fighting a nasty respiratory bug that has hit. I am treating them with antibiotics that go in the water but I don't think that they care for the flavor. Is there anything I can put in it to help them drink more or at least want to drink it?

I have hundreds of birds so I mix entire 5 gallon buckets and I used one jello box per bucket, far from enough to turn to jello but enough that they love the taste and drink it like crazy.

Make sure the medicated water is their only source

The bad taste is one reason some people will not use antibiotics in water. Sometimes chickens won't drink enough water to get the correct dosage of the antibiotic.

Amazing! Would have never thought of that! Just dump the powder in it?

Yep we are doing a round right now due to some wheezes and sniffles. Granted Im doing alot of birds but we fill up 2 five gallon buckets, put the oxytrycline ( I know thats spelled wrong lol) in and a box of jello, mix it all up and then carry it around to each coop. Just make sure with antibiotics in the water your re doing it every day so dont over do it try and give enough for a day so your not wasting a bunch. Mine seem to like strawberry jello and drink it up like crazy.

yeah coolaid would probably have the same effect except you would have to add sugar I would think or it wouldnt taste sweet and yummy. I know we go to the dollar store and jello is like .75 a box so its really cheap to do. My son is 9 and helps and I think he licks his finger and eats more of the jello powder than goes in the bucket so it must taste good lol.

Thanks so much and you were right, .75 at the dollar store and they love it!! Let's hope we can kick this Nasty bug and start laying eggs!!
