Hello, my chicken has been pooping weirdly compared to other droppings I have seen to 2 other chickens I have previously owned. Her poop comes out in little balls (urate and normal coloring on it). I'm worried that this isn't healthy. She also occasionally poops out a lot of water and little pellets of poop in it. I've heard this is a sign of lack of eating, but I feed her everyday and she eats heartily. Is it from bugs? I give her canned crickets sometimes as a treat (Fluker's Canned Crickets). Maybe that's the problem? It could be salmonella or something but I don't think that's it. She free ranges and she has gotten fatter since we have gotten her. Add your own post if you have your own worries / had a similar situation or simply, help. : ) Thanks!

I've had a bad time with my turkey doing som'n like that but over time he got better my chickens honestly I never check there poop but I'd ask a vet

I have the exact same question right now. Sorry no one got you an answer, did you ever figure it out, how's that chicken?

If your chickens are free ranging have you taken the time to see what plants are growing on your property. Some plants are poisonous to chickens if they eat small amounts of it will cause diarrhea or other digestive problems. It won't kill them though.

I've check the plants but he doesn't really forage too much because of his crossedbeak so he just stocks me for handouts. But all the ladies attack my plants and they've been fine so I don't think it's a dangerous plant.

Hi, I signed up just because I have the answer to this and know how hard it is to find out what your chicken might has and hope this will be a help for other owners.
So my young pullets of 4 months had exactly the same: poop comes in pelletform (small droppings. looks like huge mouse poop) with often a looot of liquid. She was otherwise doing great, eating and moving around a lot. I dewormed with fenbendazole 2 times but nothing changed. it took 3 poop samples and a specialist from the zoo to find out that this was an underlying coccidiosis. I got the antibiotics ( amproline 7 days) from the vet and the poop is now totally normal again. I am quite happy to have solved this because I saw a real difference in the pullet energy wise and obviously stopped a possible spreading. Such underlying diseases might not kill a bird but can stun growth in youngs, cause health problems later on or spread to other birds that might not be so resilient.
I hope this helps someone put there!

Thank you for posting this as I was just looking for info regarding this. Mine took one of these weird poops in her bath hence the photos of it in the water. They are just like a pellet of rat poo in size, and watery.

Thank you for this response! Even though it's a couple years ago, hoping someone can answer my follow-up question. If I'm not sure which chicken(s) are having "pellet poops", can I give antibiotic to all of them? Is is something I can put in the water? Not sure of the cost of giving all 8 of mind an antibiotic...So hoping it's just something I can add to their water and all will benefit and not be harmed. Thank you!
