One of my hens was diagnosed today with Roundworms. The vet gave us Fenbendazole pills for 5 days. I know I need to deworm everyone else so I asked for a recommendation for something to put in the water. He suggested Wazine17 but I cannot find it - even online. Some threads are suggesting that it has been discontinue. I would prefer not to have to pill all 7 birds. Any suggestions for a dewormer that I can put in their water to cover the rest of the flock?

I’m currently using safeguard goat dewormer on my flock. I wouldn’t recommend putting it in the water, though. I’ve heard that it doesn’t mix very well, and you can’t control the dosage that way. Instead I put each chicken’s dose on a little piece of bread and feed it to them that way, or you could use a syringe with no needle to put it directly into their mouth.

Thank you for the replies. I can try the dose by chicken on the bread. It will be a challenge for 1 hen because she will not hand feed and she is hard to catch. This is the reason I wanted to do it in the water. Are you using a specific type of the Safeguard?

I forgot to mention, I isolated each chicken and just tossed the bread at them and didn’t let them out until they ate it. Some of them ate it from my hand no problem, some I had to tear it up for them and toss small chunks at them. It’ll depend on your birds. There was one that I couldn't get to eat it so I injected the safeguard into her mouth after bed time. This is easier with two people, so one can hold the bird and the other can dose them.

Disregard that post, it is outdated.

Safeguard liquid goat wormer is administered orally to each chicken using a syringe without a needle. Dosage is 0.23ml per pound for 5 days straight. No need to reworm after the 5 days.
Sorry, I was unaware there was newer information. Is there an egg withdrawal with this dosage?

Normally there's a 14 day withdrawal period after the final dosing. We eat the eggs after worming, I'm still here typing. The residue in the eggs is minute since benzimidazoles arnt absorbed that well and mostly excreted out of the chickens system.
However if you or a family member suspect that a reaction may occur, by all means, toss the eggs in the garbage.
