I have 2 9 month old Icelandic cockerals.
The black one was lower in the order than the white/green/gold one.
I had a cantankerous year old BCM that I put back with them for about 8 weeks before I ate the BCM. This was in October.
During that time, the black cockeral became dominant of white/gold.
In with them are, 4 more cockerels. All 5 months. 3 Delaware and a bantam gold lace Wyandotte.
There are approx 29 pullets and a few hens in the coop.
The black Icie crows normally. The gold/white has a much higher pitched crow. Black chases white a lot. Both of them will pull the Delwares off pullets if they aren’t getting mating right/being rough. The icelandic pullets will also peck the Delawares when they rough mate any chicken, not just themselves. The delwares don’t really fight back and take off.
1 of the delwares will be eaten. The bantam will be given away. I segregated black icie for a few days (crate in coop) and white has asserted control of the coop.
Does the high pitched crow indicate some kind of development for white icie?
How much success should i expect when black icie gets back into general population? Is it likely he will stop chasing off the white?
