Hello, I am a new chicken owner and have a 14 month old chicken. a few days ago she started to make high pitch noises similar to car skids (in my opinion) I have never heard a noise like that from her. She also constantly opens her mouth. (NO STRETCHING, WHISTLING, DISCHARGE OR GAPING) At first I thought it was because it's hot here (around 94 Fahrenheit during the day) but she opens her mouth like that at night and indoors (73 fahrenheit) also excessively pruning and ruffling feather.
she has Marek's but she was getting better a week ago, starting to lay eggs again and gaining weight. She still has a very small appetite. Unchanged since last few months. (because of Mareks I'm presuming)
now ever since the noises started she's losing weight again, not eating or drinking at all one day. (have to force feed water) Barely touching even her favorite food. Still laying eggs. Her poo is small and green and surrounded by something that looks like white mucus.
whenever we call her name she starts making that noise desperately, outside
she comes running And opening her mouth to make that noise. I listened for wheezing but I could only hear pant noises while her mouth was open. Rest is fine.
there is lots of moisture In the air here and in our backyard we sometimes have a pool of water after it rains. I wonder if she ate anything bad off the ground. Or she has something in the throat? Mareks??We have not wormed her.
we dont have a vet who will see chickens here! So please help!
