Looking for your opinions and experiences on these breeds of ducks: Welsh Harlequin, Silver Appleyard, Saxony, Silver/Splash Swedish

I’m going to get some more female ducklings. It started at 2 but I managed to convince duck dad to be fine with 3. Well I tried to sneakily make it 5 and he drew the line lol (the duck house were building is made for 12-13 ducks, not including the run.. so I understand)

So now I’m trying to narrow it down to 2 breeds. I’m going to get a female mallard for him as a surprise because those are his favorite ducks. That leaves 2 more.

I do have Blue & Black Swedish ducks right now and I enjoy them! Specifically interested in Splash Swedish though.

I also have Magpies and Cayugas.

I have a welsh harlequin and had others in the past. All calm, sweet ducks. Lay well and are pretty. I haven’t had any of the other breeds you listed.

I have Welshies - I love em. So sweet, so pretty, and my girls are laying at *4* months old! Chicken size eggs - not as big as my cayugas, but that’s fine for me.
I had a Silver Apple yard boy who was gorgeous, but one boy too many.
Saxonies are endangered, so you could help a rare breed out! Of course it’s a few months after the fact, so I’m probably too little too late on the advice. Got any spring baby pics? Here are mine:

I hatched out Splash ducklings recently, mom is Lilac Cayuga and dad could either be Black, Blue Cayuga or Standard Buff. My money is on Blue since that’s a brooded group of Blue and two Lilacs that run together. There were two quitter eggs in this batch that were Black with a faint light chest (Black Cayuga). If I did more research, I could see if there was a temp/sex connection, maybe the Black ones were males and it wasn’t warm enough in the middle of the bator? Regardless, Splash doesn’t fit in to my color plans, but is necessary if you want to produce Blues.
Metzer’s description of how they get Blue Swedishs is fantastic - I posted that and the Splash duckies got to go outside, they kept using me as a perch 😆
