This is my speckled sussex pullet who ended up being a welsummer cockerel. My 2 accidental roos are starting to spar so I need to start attempting to rehome. Just want to check if my dude meets the breed standards so I can list him as a welsummer roo?rooster? Or is he actually a cross...I dont know since there was a mix up in sending him anyways..

Where was he purchased from? If it was a hatchery or feed store, then yes, he is pure. That doesn't mean he's show quality or even breeder quality. It just means he's not mixed. If he came from a backyard breeder then there's no telling what he might be.

It was a hatchery.

Where are you located? I am looking for a Welsumer roo to replace my existing roo to change up the gene pool of my flock. I'm in Idaho.

Bummer. Thanks anyway.
Little bit too far. I did find him a home very easily though...4 hours on craigslist, to a lady not more than 10 miles from me with Welsummer hens. Sounds like a perfect fit for him.

Now to find a place for the other one. I don't think his new home will be as easy to find. But we'll see..
