Looking to add some Welsummers to my flock and was wondering if anybody has purchased Welsummer’s through Ideal Poultry. If you have, how are their eggs? Are they dark or speckled? The reason I’m asking is because the hatchery is sold out online of course but I see some scheduled to come in at a feed store near me soon which come from Ideal Poultry. Really wanting some speckled eggs to add to my basket!

I was afraid to order from Ideal because I live in WV but after 3 years of trying to get legbars I finally placed an order from Ideal (they ship in September)I ordered my Welsummers from Murray 2 yrs ago and they're my friendliest hens .They're also one of my best layers too(dark brown eggs)No speckles in my Murray birds !

I’ve ordered from Ideal before and you couldn’t ask for healthier birds I didn’t lose a single one in all my orders with them.

I have 2 Welsummers from Ideal. They're not SOP because their legs are very pale compared to bright yellow. I don't care, though. I got them for the eggs.

I will say one lays huge eggs. Not unusual for me to get a 68g. Downside is that the speckles are few and far between. I'd also call the color a medium brown. Definitely not dark. Here's a pic of one of the girls. Also attached is how speckled they can look but most of the time, the eggs have no speckles. The last picture shows you the color difference. The far 2 left ones are Welsummer eggs. The other brown ones came from my Plymouth Barred Rocks.

My 2 welsummers look like your hen. They also lay my darkest eggs and are shiny and hard shelled but have no speckles lol. The only speckled egg I get is a large brown egg from one of my black Australorps (its a recent glitch in her system)
