My 1st coop is in my 1st dog kennel run. It's 6x10. I added silkies but my easter eggers & barred rock are picking on them so I added another 10x10 run up against the 6x10. I used the extra fence panel as a roof on the 6x10, covering it in 1/4" hardware cloth. I tried using a PVC brace, which I was going to use without the chain link (have no more) covered every 3 feet in hardware cloth like I've read on here. I bought 3/4" 5ft pvc with coupling attachers (10ft won't fit in car) and the steel clamps to attach to chain link rail. I asked the guy at Lowes if I'd need center support, he said no and he was wrong. The one we did in the 6x10 sagged in the middle and we zip tied it to the chain link panel redneck style though I'm sure it's providing no support. I have to buy bigger zip ties today to attach the chain link panel roof to the sides as it's not a perfect fit to line up brackets and it over hangs, I just have 4 & 8". Is a fat zip tie sturdy enough to hold up a chain link panel?
On to my 10x10. My plan was to cut off the extra on the pvc. Run the hardware cloth between 2 panels first & zip ties down then put the pvc up. It's a huge waste of money if it sags in the middle. Can anyone show me in their pics or step by step how to run pvc down the middle with the clampy pvc fittings to make it work? Is the 3/4 even thick enough? I'm as unhandy as they come and a promise a friend made to help me with a roof hasn't happened so I'm doing it myself. Thanks!
