I wish to get more like this but I don't know what breeds have this. Most of my chickens are mix breeds, with makes for beautiful bird variety. What breeds have this beautiful golden yellow?
Thank you for explaining leakage! Now will you explain duckwing please? And also, you can probably just replicate it if you breed the birds you already have! If you choose hens with similar colorations (darker bodies, lighter/golden necks, for example) and cross them with the roosters pictured, many off their offspring will likely share that golden leakage trait. (Leakage is what you call the brighter shoulder/saddle feathers on a solid-colored bird.)
I can give it a shot!Thank you for explaining leakage! Now will you explain duckwing please?
Also, golden duckwing can only truly be present in males. Females are either gold or silver. Males have two copies so have the ability to be both. Golden is the combination of a gold and silver gene (plus possibly other diluters). This means golden duckwing doesn’t breed true unlike silver or black breasted red (gold duckwing). I believe the counterpart for a golden duckwing is a silver duckwing female (at least that’s how the hatcheries often sell sell them meaning they’re using silver males over gold females)Thank you for explaining leakage! Now will you explain duckwing please?
Okay now my head is spinning. I just wanted enough info to be able to say, That chicken is a this or a that by looking at it ... not to know its DNA back several generations! Also, golden duckwing can only truly be present in males.
