What did you do in the garden today?

I went out and found MORE pumpkins. I went to turn one over and it was already off the vine but not ripe because the one side I didn't see is solid green. I found 3 orange pumpkins today and I need to get them picked. Hopefully tomorrow. My neighbor seen my pomegranates and asked his wife to call me and ask if he could have some so I took him 4. Each one probably weighs about a pound.

Sounds so violent. 😬

Speaking of carrots, since the garden was a total no go this year, I just bought 25 lbs (11.3 kg) for $12.48. (can't hardly grow them for that) and feel no guilt for it. Pint canning jars are in the dishwasher as I swype. 🤔 What music goes with veg prep?
We always can to old country music! 😄
That is a great deal on carrots!

Got half the carrots done. Because the weather was only in the 50s, the dogs wanted out. Because there was a LOT of wind blowing things around, they wanted back in within a few minutes. Because I was in the kitchen for a few hours they wanted out and then in and out and in and out which made it take that much longer to process. I watched a bit of the hurricane wrecking Jamaica which inspired reggae as the canning music.

I listen to, and enjoy, so many genres of music.... I listen to Spanish guitar sometimes when I can, Rush, or recently I've been listening to stuff like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Taj, Deep Purple, that kinda stuff while I work. Listening to the epic drummers and fabulous bassist... Guitarists... Just letting my brain absorb it all while I try not to burn myself. 🤣
I have been culling since covid, over 150 in the last 5 years.
Stupid neighbors like to watch so they put out corn.... When the food is gone they come down to check out the poultry buffet 😞
That's like me with gophers. I even toss them back to whatever yard they originated from as gifts. "That gopher you were trying to deter into my yard with the 'sonar' spikes died somehow. Your welcome. Take it back. Thanks."

I murder all vermin. I can't afford for them to eat food that I grow. 😑

Oh! Today I planted:
4 different varieties of beets
Cauliflower
2 different Broccoli
Cabbage
Kohlrabi
2 different arugula
3 different lettuce
2 different kales
Spring onions
Japanese mustard greens
More snap peas

All direct sown.

It's supposed to stay in the low 80's, high 70's for the rest of the week, into next week. A chance of rain next Wednesday. So it was the perfect time to sow. Hopefully things germinate quickly. It's getting into the high 40's at night consistently now. Fingers crossed that I get beets. I need my home grown beets again.

I didn't really.... Well.... Let's just say this. I didn't mark anything I planted, I didn't follow directions for spacing or depth. I did what actually works and spaced things like they like without wasting space. I covered all of the seeds in sifted compost and watered. I won't touch anything until I see sprouts unless it gets too dry prior of course. I will fertilize soon after the first true leaves emerge and put my mulch/wood chips back later. Back to Chaos gardening! Woo!

I used to have a neighbor that fed the coons. After eating dog food at his place they would come over and try to get chicken. He would not believe me as he thought they would be full. They got old and moved to town. We would have coffee together at a restaurant. I would tell him when I live trapped coons that I released them in town near his house. I said there is an old woman who leaves cat food on her porch. I really did not but coons would get in his garbage in town.
