Its supp to be non Gmo corn from that Amish mill.... have been using an old clamp on Universal brand food grinder.. It only has one "blade" it takes a while. Has anyone found anything faster and less :exercise"? bought 2 bags.. been using first bag for couple of months... cause also bought Milo and Millit. heat plus layer pellets and some scratch too
have that nice Meat grinder I bought.. scared that might hurt the electric grinder....
thoughts yall?

We have a quarter horse breeding farm and on occasion feed cracked corn. You can buy cracked corn from tractor supply company (TSC) or just about any grain elevator. It is much easier to buy it already cracked and pay an extra $1 or $2.00 per 50lbs than to grind it yourself. Nutrition wise buying it cracked or doing it yourself is a draw.

All the best.

If what you are using it for is straight grain as a scratch, you can feed if whole and let their gizzard do what it designed to do grind food. Saves a lot of work for you and gives the chickens the exercise

No I grind the (whole supposedly non GMO )whole corn and add to millet, milo, wheat, rice bran, flax meal to electoltye water...... give them that plus the ( 5 gallon food grade pvc bucket, elle feeder, left in run all the time) bought pellet feed.
Now in season... plus canteloupe seeds, watermelon seeds , okra seed (from too big okra... then maybe later small amount of cooked brown rice.
Plus a seperate scratch bought from local Amish mill.......
SPOLILED CHICKENS lol
NAW dont want the cracked GMO corn from TSC..........

did you ever find what you were looking for? I too want to crack corn - just for my small flock. Don't want to spend too much money - probably just a hand mill - do they work? any one in particular?

Thanks,

Susan
