We left this morning and one of the eggs had a little beak poking out. I came home today and found the keeet had hatched. It was on its side and out of the nest. The hen was just scratching about. I’m not sure if something went wrong with the hatching or if the keet is abnormal or if the hen stepped on him, etc. He’s still breathing. Anything I should do for him? Pretty sure he is going to die

I put the keet in the incubator at 95°.

He survived the night. He’s still breathing, kicks when you touch him, but otherwise just lays there.

Anything I should do for him?

Could I correct temps have caused issues with the hatch? The first kid that hatched is healthy. But he hatched in our primary coop, which is over 95°. The other hens were pecking at him so I moved the mother hand, keet, and nest of eggs to the chicken tractor. But I’ve noted the hen is now getting up from the nest a lot more and the tractor is not as warm. This second keet took almost 24 hrs to hatch.

If it wasn’t the temp, I’m wondering if the mother hen injured him during hatching.

Just trying to figure out what went wrong to prevent it for the others.

Pretty sure this little guy is going to die.
