A random idea I had today- turn pet birds and poultry into kenku (the bird race from Dungeons and Dragons). I know kenku are typically crow/ravens in appearance, but I think it'd be more fun if you throw in any avian species. Here's my rendition of my favorite hen (silkie/polish) as a kenku! I've yet to give her a class and clothing/armor designs yet. I kiiind of want to turn her into a player character, but her real life name is actually Batman. 😅

I'm definitely going to work on this more and play around with breeds, roosters etc. My fiance wants one of her pet pekin duck!

I like this idea. But I think the aarakocra might be a better suited race. Sure the Kenku can’t fly, and neither can chickens, but the aarakocra are a closer rendition to bird people. Either way cool drawing and cool idea.

True, adding to that Kenku mimicry-only speech would be a little more difficult if I used my idea in-game for a character.

I'm a bit loathe to add on a pair of wings on the back- I've drawn wayyyyy too much of that growing up and got sick of it. There are plenty of renderings of aarakocra with wings as arms, this does limit the kind of sleeves and arm clothing I can add on.

Definitely something to explore though. I'll play around with the concept a bit more!

The wings could always sit against the back. They don’t have to be on display or open. Kind of the way a chickens wings already sit. Maybe implying the character doesn’t like to use the wings or cannot. They have them but are reluctant/ can’t use said wings.

I was in the coop one night, and one of my girls made the creepiest, most evil sound..which is funny cause she’s a sweetheart..I thought a decent horror movie could be made of poultry that could transform..they already can look pretty darn fierce..

This was going to be a musical adapted into a movie, but at the last minute they changed it to “Cats,”…
