What is my golden Sebright bantam hen mixed with? Sia, my 2 year old Sebright tragically passed away due to a freak accident, that was completely my fault and 100% preventable on July 1, 2024. I wanted to give a tribute to her earlier, but it hurt too much writing about her. She was always so kind, always tibiting to her friends that she found treats (even when I separated her so she could have some to herself), and alerted for predators, despite being at the bottom of the pecking order. Sia was also the smartest and fastest one, so I always thought she'd live a long life
I only had 4 bantams, so her presence was dearly missed and the others would call out for her constantly because she was missing. I've been looking to get a new Sebright hen, ideally that looks like her, but Sia was just such a unique chicken with beautiful irisdescent feathers, that I can't find a similiar one. She was tractor supply/hatchery chick, with a lot more darker feathers, and a dark mulberry comb. She grew darker feathers as she molted. All Sebrights I've come across either have a red rose comb, or like patches of red and darker comb/waddles, and not as dark feathers. Any idea what she was mixed with?? Thanks!
