I have a momma hen that was bitten by snake trying to protect he babies. I managed to get the snake off her but now what should I do? I saved 5 chicks and the momma, lost at least 2 chicks.

I believe it was a chicken snake. Not really sure if she is having a reaction. It was nearly dark when I found the snake in her nest. She went right back to sitting on the babies that I rescued when I put her in the chicken house. The snake had bit her on her wing and had a grip on her just above the wing when I got it off of her.I'm sorry you lost chicks. I wish I had a more helpful response.
What type of snake? Where was she bitten? Is she having a reaction of any kind?
She was not in the coup . She is a game hen that decided to make a nest in the garage.IF you can, call a vet to see what more you can do or call your feed store to see what they suggest....So sorry for your loss & as said, check to make sure your coop is snake proof.
She was in the garage not the coup. She is 1 of 2 game hens that roam free with 2 roos since they were little. I now have her and the chicks in the chicken house.Do you know what kind of snake it was?
I'd have to say I don't think there is actually much you can do but watch it to make sure it doesn't get infected, and secure your coop so no more snakes can get in.
