What should I do with these slow developing eggs?

18 days ago I put 24 chicken eggs in my janole 24 incubator and now I’m on day 17 and I have 19 fertile growing eggs left but when I candled them last night I’ve noticed that I have about 5 that look like they are on day 17 but than I have others that have developed slower and look like that are on day 10-15 and I’m worried that if I put the all on lockdown at the same time the slower ones won’t survive. I have a second incubator, should I make my second incubator my lockdown incubator and when I have seen that they have grown to the point they should be at day 18 I move them into the lockdown incubator that way I have one incubator that they keep turning and growing in and another that they hatch in once they are ready?


P.S. the whole time my temp was at 37.6 and my humidity was between 40-50% and on lockdown I’ll have the humidity between 60-70%.

These top 3 are the stage that about 5-10 are at.and the next pics are the stage that others are at and some haven’t even developed that much

As you can see there is still a lot of room in there for it to grow and today (12th October) is day 17 so they should have developed more.

Are you sure the ones that seem behind are alive?
I assume you have calibrated the thermometer or are positive it is accurate?

Tenp was at 37.6?!?!

Yeah, when I candle them I see them moving and yeah it’s all calibrated

The less developed ones look like quitters to me. If you are sure you see movement from the chick inside, then you must have one area that is not properly heating. Were they all from one side of the incubator? Did you ever move the eggs around during the first days?

I’d proceed with increasing the humidity for the ones that are ready, suspecting that those other ones won’t hatch. I don’t suppose you have another incubator you could move those to?

Good plan. Raise the humidity for those that appear to be on time. The extra humidity for a few days won't hurt the others. Turning isn't as important late in incubation as it is the first couple weeks. The only tricky part is getting dried chicks out if others are still pipping.
I'm often surprised how much an egg can fill up the last few days.

They don't look like quitters, because I can see good veining in the eggs. The chicks may just be in a different position--you'd be surprised how their position determines how much you see when you candle.
I'd say go ahead and prepare for lockdown, and see what happens. And double check the temperature in all parts of your incubator, especially if it doesn't have a fan.

I got 10 so far and still waiting on 1 more to hatch
