I have zip for experience with hog rings and their pliers. I have plenty experience with these bad boys, like to kill my arthritic fingers!

I have a 10x10x6 chain link dog run that I covered sides, top, and apron in 1/2 inch hardware cloth using those ties. It took me 2 and a half months to finish. This week I am about to enlarge the run by adding 20x10 feet. No way can I go through that pain again. I want to purchase hog rings and the hog ring pliers but there seems to be different sizes. The dewalt kit looked to be too small. I'm hoping someone with experience can tell me which rings and which pliers would be the best fit to connect 1/2 inch hardware cloth to chain link. I'm hopeful I can accomplish this in 1-2 weeks.

I will let you know what size i used on my hoop coop when i go out to the workshop later today.

I use 1/2" 14 gauge stainless steel hog rings to connect HWC to chain link, that size is decently easy to work with. Pliers I don't think there's a size listed, you just want to make sure that they're listed as compatible with 1/2" rings (or whatever size ring you're going with). You'll need to turn them diagonally to fit between the openings of the HWC.

I am unawares of any size of hog ringers other than just hog ringers. Hog ringers were invented to pierce the tender edges of a hogs snout or nose to discourage swine from rooting out of their pen. I guess that makes Hog Ringers organic (they are organic in a metallic sense) and sustainable as well. Just be sure that the hog ring pliers and the hog ringers are of comparable size.
