what temp do you keep eggs at before incubation?

I was wondering what the temperature was supposed to be the only results in found were 55deg but i thought was to cold and was wondering if anybody else thought different?

We keep ours at 'basement' temperature. About 65 degrees, maybe a little cooler at times. We make a rule of it to turn the eggs 4 times a day and only 'store' them for about 3 days before they go in the incubator. . anything past 3 seems to drastically drop our hatch rate. .

I try and keep myn at 70 but I have had myn get up to around 79 and they were fine but I only store my eggs for a week.

Mine get stored in egg turners in the basement witch is a steady 60 year round. I keep mine for up to 10 days and have had no problems. My last hatch I hatched out 6 that were 15 days old that we're left in my fridge. So you never know!

Ideally hatching eggs should be stored between 55 to 65 degrees at 75% humidity. That's the ideal.

But unless you live in the northern half of the country that's going to be hard to do for most of the year.

Here in Florida I keep my eggs in my refrigerator which stays between 35-40 degrees. I still typically get 90% or better hatch with my chickens and 85% or better with my turkeys.

The important thing is to keep them as cool as you can without allowing them to freeze and in a fairly humid location so they don't dry too much before setting. Anything above freezing and below 78 degrees can be made to work.

I store my eggs in the racks that go into my incubator. I usually don't store them for more than a week at room temperature. Last week 3 out of 36 eggs didn't hatch and this week so far 5 out of 54 eggs haven't hatched yet but today is day 21. I have had hatches on day 23 and 24.

So can I just go out to my coop and grab some eggs and put them in incubator? It is in the 20's outside right now. Do I need to wash them or pick really clean looking eggs? I
