I have giant surplus of fine poplar saw dust. I thought about lining my runs and coops with it, might be too fine for inside the coop though because it becomes airborne so easily. Outside I will be throwing it down after it rains to keeps odors down. I was just curious what others have to say about uses for this since I have way more than I need. Not that its a problem I will just add it to the compost piles to get rid of it. Is this good for making a dust bathing area?

Its going to go under straw in the coops where it can. Most of my coops have hardware cloth (as well as pallets) for floors and this stuff would fall right through most of them. Some have pavers (ground coops) and those coops will have Saw Dust under straw. Most of the saw dust is going into the runs right after it rains. Because I use so many leaves in my runs they start stinking. Wet rotting leaves, wet spilt feed and manure.... not a good odor after it rains. I usually use straw but it costs a lot of money with as many coops/Runs as I have. So free Saw Dust is going to save me so much money. The good news is I can always go pick up more because the place I get it from is struggling to get rid of what they have.

I am also throwing saw dust with sand and possibly ash under coops where it stays dry where many of my chickens dust bathe

Not sure saw dust will cure that ill...let us know if it works out.

I just made a composting toilet, provided the stinky objects are covered in saw dust (I have tons and access to even more free) there is no odor. I will just completely cover the runs in 3 to 6 inches of Saw dust after a heavy rain... of course chickens will be turning everything over so who knows if it can stay covered

Yeah, way different scenarios...
...I would sincerely hope that no one will be scratching in the human toilet :gig
